This is from the DMZ tour on 30 August 2002
LTC Dillow from NMMI went on this same tour and showed pictures in class.

<---------------
This is the Bridge of No Return right on the demarcation line. There was one prisoner exchange that took place here.
---------------------------->
This shows the Bridge of No Return, the Tree memorial, and the fake city(I have to find the name) in North Korea that is not inhabited by anyone. There propaganda played over loudspeakers telling people to go to the city.
<----------------------
This is the North Korean side of the DMZ. The are looking at us in the picture, do you see the enemy?
-------------------------------->
This is me standing next to a Republic of Korea(ROK) soldier, who is standing at the postition ROK Ready. See the cable in the middle of the table? That is the border between North and South Korea, and I'm standing on the North Korean side, under the protection of the ROK soldiers, of course.
<---------------------------
Here is the other ROK soldier in the conference room from the other picture. This room is where the peace conferences took place. If you touch the ROK soldiers or go behind them they will attack you because they feel it is offensive.
----------------------------->
This is the South Korea side of the Joint Security Area, also known as the JSA. The area in the middle was once the sunken garden and a pond. After a skirmish in the JSA between the North Koreans and US quick reaction force due to a Soviet defecting into South Korea. Now the sunken garden is filled in and is a garden.

This is another long description. This is the tree memorial. It is there for the fallen Captain and Lieutenant. There was a small tree clearing detail with the mission to clear the tree the size of the round base in the memorial because it obstructed the view from one of the watch towers because it is near the demarcation line. While this detail was cutting down the tree, North Korean soldiers came across the Bridge of No Return and axed the Captain and Lieutenant to death. The soldiers had to fist fight the North Koreans until the US quick reaction force was able to respond to neutralize the situation. This was shortly after most of the war was "over."
